
LOG CHARACTERISTICS
The tree reaches considerable dimensions: height from 30 to 45
metres, diameter at breast-height also exceeding 1.50 metres. The trunks are straight but
not very regular in shape at the butt. The log is cylindrical over the grooves formed by
small buttresses.
APPEARANCE OF THE WOOD

Colour: White-yellow sapwood, clearly differentiated from the
brown-golden heartwood which sometimes tends to shinny olive-brown. Seasoning brings out
yellow hues and variable dark brown tones in the heartwood;
